Understand how the suninstall program works. suninstall is a CLI installation utility for the Solaris 9 operating environment.

Know the four installation methods for Solaris 9. The four installation options are suninstall, Web Start, JumpStart, and Live Upgrade.

Know the five software groups available in Solaris 9. The five software groups are Core, End User, Developer, Entire, and Entire plus OEM.

Understand the two options available for preconfiguring a system for installation. You can preconfigure an installation with a sysidcfg file, or by supplying necessary information to a NIS or NIS+ name server. Preconfiguration can be used with suninstall, Web Start, and custom JumpStart.

Know the commands to add and remove software packages in Solaris 9. To add a software package, use the pkgadd command. To remove a package, use the pkgrm command.

Know the commands to add and remove patches in Solaris 9. To add a patch, use the patchadd command. Patches are removed with the patchrm command.
