Summary

This chapter covered advanced installation techniques using custom JumpStart and Web Start Flash.

First, you learned how custom JumpStart works, including daemons and commands used. Custom JumpStart requires three servers: the boot, install, and profile servers. For convenience, they can all physically be the same computer. The two files to make custom JumpStart work properly are the rules file and a profile. In addition, you can specify begin and finish scripts in the rules file.

The second part of this chapter covered Web Start Flash. Web Start Flash enables you to install several systems based on the profile of a configured master system. You use the master system to create a Web Start Flash profile, and then you use one of the four Solaris installation methods to install the profile on clone computers.
