Making Google Your Home Page

Whether you use the standard Google home page or Google's Personalized Homepage, you can easily set this page as the home page for your web browser. This way Google will be the first thing you see when you start web browsing every day.

Instructions for all major web browsers are listed in Table 11.1:

Web Browser	Instructions
Internet Explorer	Select Tools, Internet Options. Select the General tab. Enter either www.google.com or www.google.com/ig/ into the Address box. Click OK.
Mozilla Firefox	Select Tools, Options. Select the General preferences. Enter either www.google.comor www.google.com/ig/ into the text box. Click OK.
Opera	Select Tools, Preferences. Select the General tab. Pull down the Startup menu and select Start with Home Page. Enter either www.google.comor www.google.com/ig/ into the Home Page field. Click OK.
Netscape	Select Edit, Preferences. Select the Navigator category. Enter either www.google.comor www.google.com/ig/ into the Home Page text box. Click OK.
Safari	Select the Preferences menu. Select General preferences. Enter either www.google.comor www.google.com/ig/ into the Home Page field. Close the Preferences window.
