Searching the Corporate Network with Google Desktop for Enterprise

Google's other desktop search application, Google Desktop, is also available in a corporate version. Google Desktop for Enterprise offers similar features to the standard Google Desktop program, supplemented with the following enterprise-specific features:

• A Windows-based Installer package that lets administrators install and configure the program for employees across a corporate network

• Standards-based administration lets administrators manage all user preferences using Microsoft Group Policy settings

• Integration with the Google Search Appliance and Google Mini lets users search across a corporate network

• Ability to find email messages from Microsoft Outlook Express, Netscape Mail, Mozilla Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Gmail, and IBM Lotus Notes

• Support for shared workstation environments, so users can have secure searches across just the files they have access to on shared workstations

• Ability to encrypt all user data and search index files using Encrypted File System (EFS)
