B.9 How Long Are the Certifications Valid?

MySQL certifications are tied to the major version numbers of the MySQL server and related products. A change in the major version number is made by MySQL AB when significant new features are introduced in MySQL server.

As older versions become outdated, MySQL AB will retire the certifications related to these versions. Candidates will be notified well in advance when such a retirement will take place.

At MySQL AB, we believe that although certifications help you prove your knowledge, certification is no substitute for experience. Nonetheless, prospective employers are likely to look more favorably at candidates who continuously keep updated on their knowledge, and recertifying will help you with that proof.
